The WRC has established an Intellectual Property Policy (the Policy) for the management of intellectual property created within the scope of WRC-funded research projects. The Policy aims to encourage research and innovation, clarify ownership of intellectual property rights, create opportunities for public use of WRC innovations, and to provide for the equitable distribution of financial rewards and other benefits derived from intellectual property.

  The benefit-sharing policy relates to the commercial exploitation of the WRC's intellectual property arising from WRC-funded research projects and the preferential issuing of licenses.
• Guidelines: IP disclosed in terms of Research Contracts  (pdf 21KB)
  This document serves as a guideline for WRC staff and its stakeholders on how the WRC will be dealing with its intellectual property. The guideline refers in the main to patents, but also applies to copyright, trademarks and other forms of protectable IP.
