 Dr Brilliant Petja Research Manager : Climate Change

Dr Brilliant Petja worked as a Scientific Manager for Precision Farming/ Site Specific Agriculture Research at Limpopo Department of Agriculture. He also served as a Specialist Researcher responsible for Climate Change Research, Site Specific Agriculture, Rural Agricultural Development, GIS and Remote Sensing in the same department. Previously he worked as a Remote Sensing Research Scientist and Project Manager at the Agricultural Research Council – Institute for Soil, Climate and Water. He also served the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as the Regional Expert for management and use of natural resources for sustainable agricultural development representing Africa. He was a member of the National Agrometeorological Committee (DAFF). He obtained a Bachelor of Environmental Sciences (University of Venda), a Master of Science in Geosciences (Remote Sensing) from University of the Witwatersrand and a Doctor of Philosophy in GIS and Remote Sensing from University of Limpopo. He also received postgraduate training in Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation from the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute. He is a Member of IEEE – Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society. His area of expertise includes applications of GIS and Remote Sensing in global change (climate change), natural resource management, rural development, public health and epidemiology.
