Annual Report on Water Services in South Africa 2015 : The Municipal Benchmarking Initiative
Expanded Title:Effective benchmarking is a key tool to improve service quality, expand service networks and optimise operations. The Municipal Benchmarking Initiative (MBI), a voluntary programme initiated in 2011 by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) in partnership with the Water Research Commission (WRC), and in association with the Institution of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA), has made significant strides towards improving water services performance measurement and management. Globally, benchmarking is recognised as a tool to guide and support effective performance assessment and continuous performance improvement.
