The Water Research Commission (WRC) is a dynamic hub for water-centred knowledge, innovation and intellectual capital, providing leadership for research and development through the support of knowledge creation, transfer and application. It engages stakeholders and partners involving water-related problems, which are crucial to South-Africa’s sustainable development and economic growth, and is committed to promoting a better quality of life for all. Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the Pretoria-based position of:

Head of Compliance and Planning

 

Salary: R 610 000 Cost to Company

(5 year contract)

 

The WRC seeks to appoint a Head of Compliance and Planning.  The incumbent will be responsible but not limited to the following:

 

·       The planning and support of the activities required for the Strategic Plan, Annual Report, Quarterly Performance Reports or any other  reporting that may be  required

·         Auditing and Implementation  of all relevant statutory and regulatory matters

·         Management of compliance related reporting

·         Board Secretarial functions which include ensuring that the Board is in compliance with all relevant legislation

·         Monitoring and advising on governance best practice and emerging trends

·         Assist operational areas with legal issues which include the management of contracts

 

Minimum qualifications and experience required:

 

  • B degree or equivalent
  • B degree with Law/LLB will be advantageous
  • 5 years experience in a similar position

 

 

Job Competencies:

 

·         Report Compilation

·         In-depth understanding of relevant and up to date knowledge of legislation

·         Ability to liaise at executive and board level

·         Document editing (quality control)

·         Ability to explain, advocate and express facts and ideas both orally and in writing
