The Water Research Commission (WRC) is a dynamic hub for water-centred knowledge, innovation and intellectual capital, providing leadership for research and development through the support of knowledge creation, transfer and application. It engages stakeholders and partners involving water-related problems, which are crucial to South-Africa’s sustainable development and economic growth, and is committed to promoting a better quality of life for all. Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the Pretoria-based position of:

Personal Assistant – Office of the CEO

(R161 970 – R171 912 per annum, basic salary)

The WRC seeks to appoint a Personal Assistant, to provide administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer of the Water Research Commission.

 Minimum qualifications and experience required:

  • Three year secretarial diploma or equivalent
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience as a secretary or similar administrative position

 Job Competencies:

  • Service orientation
  • Organizing/coordinating skills
  • Communication/people skills
  • Computer skills ( MS Word, Excel, Power Point Outlook)
  • Strong initiative
  • Accuracy and efficiency
  • Team player

 The position entails the following responsibilities:

  • Management of the CEO’s office
  • Coordinating/liaison/communication with stakeholders
  • Management of travel arrangements
  • Administrative functions to the WRC Executive
  • Logistic function to the Board of the WRC
  • Liaison function with the Ministers Office
