The WRC enjoys the Ministerial visit
It was all smiles when the Honourable Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Buyelwa Sonjica, visited the Water Research Commission’s offices on Wednesday 30 September 2009. A busy day ended on a positive note when the Minister arrived to meet with the WRC Board members and staff. She was warmly welcomed by Professor Janine Adams, Chairperson of the WRC Board.
The Minister expressed her gratitude to the WRC team for their hard work that contributes towards the minimisation of challenges faced by the water sector. She also emphasised the importance of team work at all levels of the organisation. ‘I feel very much elated to be reunited with you and hope to spend at least five years within the water sector’ said Minister Sonjica. She emphasised how she values the WRC as an entity. ‘Let us all work towards a very positive objective especially during this time when the sector is always on the news for bad reasons.’ She concluded: ‘We should always strive towards perfection as we represent the nation and the continent at large.’
The WRC staff had a good time as they enjoyed lunch and got an opportunity to network with the Minister and Board members.
