Call for submissions: WRC freelance writers corps
The Water Research Commission (WRC) is looking to establish a core of up to three specialist freelance writers for its public water science & development magazine, the Water Wheel for the year 2013/2014.
The Water Wheel is a glossy, bi-monthly, magazine aimed at improving general public understanding of water science, research and development. Issues covered include water governance, current trends/challenges within the water sector, latest research & development, water engineering and infrastructure projects, new technologies and products within the water, wastewater, irrigation, aquatic science and conservation, industrial and mining water sectors.
Freelance writers will be selected based on their knowledge and experience of the water/environmental sectors as well as their specialist magazine writing ability. Freelance writers will be required to write a maximum of 12 articles for the year (two per issue), based on story ideas discussed and approved by the Water Wheel Editor prior to every edition. Writers will be remunerated at a rate of R3.50 a word at a maximum of 2 000 words per article. This rate includes all travel and visual material to be submitted with articles.
