Applications for board membership - Water Research Commission
The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs hereby invites applications for candidates to be considered for appointment to the Board of the Water Research Commission (WRC).
The WRC operates in terms of the Water Research Act (Act 34 of 1971) and its Terms of Reference are to support the creation, dissemination and application of water-centred knowledge and the building of a sustainable water-related knowledge base in South Africa. The WRC strives to strengthen its local and international position as South Africa’s water-centred knowledge ‘hub’.
The WRC addresses the above through seven Key Strategic Areas (KSAs), which include KSAs focusing on knowledge dissemination and technology transfer, HR, IT and Administration and four water- centred KSAs as follows:
Board members can be drawn from the water industry, the community of water users, NGOs, research organisations and academia, as well as Central, Provincial and Local Government, and/or any other interest groups addressing, preferably, more than one of the above strategic areas. In addition to water-related knowledge, Board members should be in position to provide guidance to the WRC with regards to corporate governance, financial and human resource management.
Applications should be sent to e-mail: board@wrc.org.za. The closing date is 2 December 2011.
