An outstanding flagship project award gets handed over to the WRC

On Friday, 10 January 2014 WESSA & Ground-Truth presented the United Nations University award for an “Outstanding Flagship Project” to the CEO of WRC, Mr Dhesigen Naidoo.

This award acknowledges the “... contribution to the development of an innovative miniSASS, a platform for citizens to measure and express their concerns around water quality and service delivery”.  This project, which developed the Google Earth Biomonitoring concept, by Ground-Truth and WESSA, through the KwaZulu-Natal Regional Centre of Expertise, was made possible with the support of the WRC. ”

The United Nations University (UNU) coordinates the "Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE's)" concept.  There are about 120 RCE's world-wide, WESSA and Ground-Truth are part of the KwaZulu-Natal RCE.
