A new water quality specialist joins the WRC
The WRC has secured the services of Dr Kevin Murray who joins the Water Resource Management (Key Strategic Area 1) team as from 1 March 2011. Kevin will be providing management expertise especially within the critical field of water quality.
Kevin studied chemistry at the University of Cape Town and spent a three year post-doc period at the University of Wales in Cardiff before joining the CSIR in 1985. At the CSIR he spent much time developing and applying a software package and database for chemical modelling. This eventually led to him moving into the water field focusing mainly on water quality.
After spending about 13 years at the CSIR he then worked from home as a consultant, again for about 13 years until now. “My work has been quite varied. It has included involvement in the design of a number of our national water quality monitoring programmes, capturing policy and strategy for resource directed water quality management, database development, integrative report writing and organisational learning,” says Kevin.
