Description

The Water Research Commission (WRC) in partnership with the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) commissioned the WR2012 study to provide a new and enhanced water resources system analysis for South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland. Chief among the study’s deliverables is the website, which maps water resources in the three countries, and is a culmination of a number of water resource appraisals that have been carried out over the past four decades. The purpose of this website is to provide all the data, GIS maps, water resource models, spreadsheets and tools to allow water resource planners and practitioners to investigate, analyse and plan their water resources studies. The rainfall-runoff WRSM2000 (also known as the Pitman model) is a key part of this project and it has undergone further enhancements during this study. The outputs from the Pitman model are used as the primary inputs to DWS’s water resources planning models.  The aim of launching the WR2012 study will be to  demonstrate how the interactive website functions and its features.  Send your RSVP to Thobileg@wrc.org.za
