The conference and scientific network serve to continue the interaction between experts from within the IW portfolio and the wider global water community. The conference aims to facilitate interaction between experts concerned with the science and management of transboundary water body types. The programme will be organized along these five interconnected water body types:
• River basins
• Lake basins
• Aquifer systems
• Large Marine Ecosystems (LMEs) and their coasts
Open Oceans and three cross-cutting issues:
• Addressing science issues – areas of targeted research, engagement of local and global science
institutions, and effective management of the science-policy interface
• Impact indicators – assessing long term science-policy impacts using indicators
• Effective Knowledge Management and Mobilization – best practices for transboundary water management.
